University Withdrawal - Student Checklist

Before withdrawing please review the information below to make sure you haven’t forgotten something important.
  • Contact the Office of Student Services and Advocacy (486-3426). A withdrawal may result in serious financial consequences. Working with this office will ensure that you are fully aware of the impact of this decision, as it applies to you. It is your responsibility to initiate the withdrawal process; non-attendance at classes or non-payment of fees does not constitute a university withdrawal or relieve you of your financial obligations.
  • Contact Student Health Services (486-0745) if you have questions regarding your school coverage or check with your private insurance carrier regarding your health coverage as some insurance providers discontinue coverage if a student is not enrolled full time at a college or university.
  • Depending on the date of withdrawal, a withdrawal may affect your financial aid and could result in your owing the university money. Check your Student Admin account and see if you owe money. Additional charges may appear up to six weeks after you withdraw. Past due accounts may be referred to our collection agency. Request a refund of any monies due you.
  • Return any books, keys, equipment, or materials on loan from the university. Return them promptly to avoid late fees and/or replacement costs.
  • If you have a Perkins Loan, and you will not be attending, you must complete an exit interview. You can do this online.
  • Update your mailing address in Student Admin. This is where refunds and future registration information will be mailed.
  • Contact your on-campus employer if you have a student job. In addition to updating your address in Student Admin, you should update your address with your departmental payroll liaison.
  • If you are receiving financial aid, you may need to contact your lender regarding repayment of loans. Federal Stafford and most private loans have grace periods of 6 months after you stop attending school. It is important that you avoid becoming delinquent on your loans while you are out of school. It could result in ineligibility for further aid and make it impossible for you to return at a later date.
  • If you receive VA educational benefits, notify Veteran’s Services in the Financial Aid Office.
  • If you have a credit balance on your Husky Bucks Account, contact the One Card Office (486-3129) for a refund.
  • If you live in on-campus housing, contact the Residential Life Office (486-6203). There may be financial penalties for canceling your housing contract.
  • Contact Parking Services (486-4930) regarding parking permits, or unpaid parking tickets.
  • To request official transcripts contact the Registrar’s Office (486-3332).
